MARY’S RIVER QUILT GUILD
GENERAL MEETING 4-25-2019

President Lisa U called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Joe Graff was introduced by wife Cindy as a visitor and speaker’s assistant.
Gwen Marsten, nationally acclaimed quilter has passed away.
Donna W. announced that a QMRQ memory page for Carol Farnes is now available. She asked that favorite photos/stories be forwarded to Donna by May 8. There will be a Celebration of Life at Scott Lodge on May 26.
Lisa U. announced that the museum will honor our past members. Let Lisa know who to include.
There is a challenge to make a quilt honoring our past 30 years. No size is specified. Please sign up on the sheet being passed around.

PROGRAMS
Ann G. announced that the speaker in May is Sherry R. She uses paints, pencils and other methods to create her quilt tops. The June speaker is Ann Doutry, a fiber arts quilter.

RAFFLE TICKETS
 The Fitness Over Fifty site still needs a coordinator.
Jo said one person is needed tomorrow and also Saturday morning (9:30-11:30) to sell raffle tickets.

SECRET SISTERS
Jan A. said that the May meeting will feature a White Elephant exchange.

QnG
Lisa said that we are currently looking for prospective gardens. A coordinator is still needed. She suggested that the job be split into smaller units, such as: grants, PR (Kelly E.), graphs, volunteer quilt store contacts, minutes, transportation, recruiting garden hostess, collect quilts, etc.
Sandy M suggested garden demos in each garden and volunteered to head the job.

PANEL CHALLENGE
Judy J. has handouts.

QUILT COUNTRY
Judy J. needs venue descriptions. They are due now.

ROUND ROBIN
Cindy G. has handouts for the program.

LIBRARY
Karen G. said the library has two new books.

HOSPITALITY
Barbara G. and Izzie E. drew names for fat quarter prizes: Linda B., Nancy A. and Nancy A.

SERVICE
Lynn introduced the show.
Flo C. showed two quilts using panels.
For the 4th of July, make patriotic quilts.

SHOW AND TELL
Alice H., table runner; Barbara G., table runner; Beth R., quilts made from November’s silent auction finds using Marsha Derse fabrics.

Lisa U. announced a break at 7:43 p.m.

Member Cindy Graff presented the program, The Teacher Is Still Learning, with a handout. (See attachment.) Cindy won the Viewer’s Choice award the last two years. She said to toot your own horn, don’t apologize or point out errors when showing your work.

The meeting concluded at. 8:40 p.m.
