March 26, 2015

Meeting called to order at 7:00 by Sherri.

Welcome guests.  Four guests stood up and introduced themselves.

Program first.  Harriet introduced  Peggy Gelbrich .  Teaching for 35 years.  Calls herself the Yellow house quilter.  Inspirational Trunk show showing different ways to use the same block and ways to make a block in a simpler fashion.  Story of her life.

Show and Tell.

Break.

Business meeting.

Presentation of quilt tops made for the Beth and Linda C. for their service last term as President and Treasurer.  Friendship blocks put together and quilted by Carmen.

May program:  Harriet discussed undulating flying geese workshop.  Currently 10 people signed up.  Tentatively scheduled at Calvin Presbyterian  on Dixon, May 29, 9-4.  One more chance to sign up for workshop.  Cost will be $400/# of participants plus $10 for pattern.  Check made out to instructor Jill Monley (due to Harriet by April guild meeting).

April program will feature  Nancy Bryant discussing color harmony for quilts.

Quilt County:  Marcia says it is coming together.  Asking for people to organize a show, however, there are some shows that you can just enter in (Scout Lodge – entry fee; Library in Corvallis – two color quilts; Fitness over 50 – just need to be a member; JLC  - bobbin bird quilts – see Lou at JLC)  Many shows are just quilt groups showing quilts.  Ideas are challenge quilts, round robins, all it takes is for someone to be the organizer of the show (responsibilities are hanging the show, making labels, working with the venue).

Auction will end 5 minutes after meeting due to the business meeting taking place in the second half of the meeting.  Auction this month benefits the scholarship fund.

Challenge:  Judy says there are still packets available.  Many ties to search through to augment your project.

Marketing:  Jo passed around clipboards for signups to sell raffle tickets at JLC during Safari (end of April, beg of May) and for Sisters in July.  Pep talk about how to sell tickets.  Two days at Fitness over 50 and sold 250 tickets!  We have sold $100 in tickets by packets sold by members.

Round Robin:  Cindy discussed 2nd round.  You can follow the progress on the blog.  Next round begins in April.

BOM:  Late blocks arrived from last month taking the total to 13, so a $10 gift certificate was put in the bucket for February.  This month there were 14.  For every 12 blocks submitted in the month, a gift certificate will be put in the bucket for a drawing at the end of the year.  The winner in the drawing at the end of the year will win all the gift certificates.  Play with your blocks and improvise.  If you don’t want to win the BOM of the month, you can put your name in the big drawing for each block you hand in.

Hospitality:  Fat quarter drawing – Diane J.; Gift certificate – Barb B.

Next general meeting:   4/23
Next Board meeting:  5/6

Meeting adjourned 8:30 pm.

Minutes respectfully submitted by Lisa
