Mary’s River Guild General Meeting
February 23, 2017

Marcia of the program committee called the meeting to order and introduced Judy and Angelia Peterson, mother and daughter quilt partners who shared their Journey of Two Technique Junkies.  They have an amazing collaborative process which allows them to make beautiful (no boundaries to be found) art quilts.

After the program and a short break guild president Barbara called the meeting back to order.  Seven visitors were welcomed and a new member introduced.   Barbara asked for some assistance on behalf of some of the new board members who were looking for information which was obtained from those present.

Announcements and Committee Reports:
Newsletter deadline is February 25th.

The next board meeting is March 1st at the home of Beth R. and all board and committee chairs are asked to be sure that Beth has your current email address.

There will be a workshop by Nancy Chong in Silverton, April 17-20.

Many guild members have known Jan Bressler of JanniLous for years and have been saddened by her death.  There will be a Celebration of Life on March 5th between 2-4 PM at the Whiteside Theatre in Corvallis to which all are invited.

Raffle 2017 Marketing still has no chairperson and one is needed to begin the immediate coordination of ticket sales.  Due to the loss of the venue at the Sisters drug store, new avenues will need to be found to help the guild raise monies to meet its’ expenses.  The tickets for the raffle have been printed.

Program reminded those gathered that March 23rd speaker will be Rachel Kerley with a program on Unique Pieces of Functional Art.

Quilt County will take place during the fall of 2017 and members are asked to sign up to contribute quilts to show at the various locations.

Hospitality held its drawing for fat quarters and a gift certificate; winners were Libby and Phyllis.

BOM held the drawing for the blocks brought this month which were won by Cindy and members were advised to be sure to read the newsletter to learn of corrections for the instructions of April and May blocks.

Secret Sisters met at the home of Gail who helped the group learn a new painting technique.  The next meeting will be a game night with lots of surprises and fun.
Round Robin’s next meeting will include the first exchange of quilt/ blocks and will be held at the home of Cindy on February 27th.
The Service Committee led show and tell of quilts made and quilted by the guild members.
The meeting was then brought to a close by President Barbara.

Respectfully submitted,
Sharon F, Interim Secretary
