MRGQ GENERAL MEETING

JUNE 28, 2012
The guild president called the meeting to order and welcomed visitors.
Announcements  included:
-The 2012 raffle quilt is hanging here this evening and will soon be on its way to the quilt show in Sisters.  After the Sister’s show it will become a part of the guild quilt show here at the Benton County Historical Museum.
-During the meeting with new members last month, several asked about the tables set up each month during the general meeting; why are they there?  The committees explained what they do and what is available at the tables.
-Project Her contacted the guild and asked that anyone interested in making scarves (to be used by women going through chemo treatment) please contact them.  President Lisa has the instructions and information for anyone interested.
-Colville, Washington’s guild sent an announcement and invitation to their September 7th guild show.
-MRGQ still needs candidates for President and Program chair.  The treasurer’s position is also open and there is one candidate for this position.  Anyone interested, please contact Pres. Lisa.
-Jan A. passed a notebook around inviting small quilt groups to meet at the museum during the guild quilt show.  Others interested in this opportunity can contact Jan to sign up for the space.
-The museum will have a barbecue fund raiser and pre-view of the quilt show on July 12th; tickets were available for purchase at the meeting and will be available through the museum offices.
This month’s program was presented by the Tillamook County Quilt Trails Coalition.  Their goal is to promote and preserve their rural and coastal heritage through the honored tradition of quilting.  Currently they have built and found locations for eighty-one wooden quilt blocks around the Tillamook area.
Committee Reports:
Library committee had a sale of duplicate and donated books.
Newsletter deadline is July 11.
Service committee offered quilts to be bound and round robin quilts to complete.  They are also interested in donations of materials to make the quilts which are donated to local charitable groups.
Challenge quilt committee reminded everyone to work on their quilts and be ready for the meeting in the fall with their quilt presentation.
Raffle 2012 committee passed sign –up sheets for ticket sells for the upcoming Sisters quilt show and Coburg quilt show.  The Benton County Fair will be August 1-4 and folks are needed for this event also.
Raffle 2014 displayed their quilt top which will be ready for hand quilting by guild members and will hopefully have members working on it during the guild quilt show at the museum.
Raffle 2013 expects to have the quilt top completed by the end of July.
Scholarship funds are available and information is available on the guild website.
The Guild quilt show will be July 13 through August 25, 2012 and will have twenty-seven quilts on display.  There will also be pot holders and Chicks with Attitude available for purchase, funds going to support MRQG and the museum.
Permission to Play reported activities.
BOM presented examples of the July and August blocks and held the drawing for this month’s blocks.
Hospitality held the drawing for all those attending which included calendars donated by the Tillamook Quilt Trail Coalition, fat quarters of fabric and a gift certificate to a local quilt shop.
