General Meeting, October 27, 2016

President Barbara G. called the meeting to order.  Welcome to one of the most entertaining meetings of the year.  Guests included Christine, Izzy E, and several unnamed males….. 
  • Still looking for a co-secretary to fill FINAL year of the 2 year term; 2 year President position.  Ann G. volunteered to run for Treasurer; still need Marketing Chair. 
  • Philomath Open Studios is on line and get a map to the studios.  www.PhilomathOpenStudios.com.  This is the last weekend for this event.

Drawing for the Raffle quilt:  Laurie N.  (541) area code….Jo will call her.
Drawing for the volunteer quilt:  Carol F.
Shift volunteer awards:  Judy 8 shifts; Debbie 7; Priscilla and Jan A.  worked 5 shifts.
Most ticket sales:  Priscilla and Barbara G.  sold 72 tickets each.  Runner up:  Jean M and Glenda.

Committee Reports:
Program :  November meeting is the Round Robin Quilt committee show and tell; Service committee slide show of their quilts and some testimony from the organizations that receive our quilts (ABC house, Benton Habitat for Humanity, Room in the Inn), Beth will be talking about her 50 shades of grey class and a silent auction.
Service:  Show and Tell of quilts brought back finished including the Veterans Hospice quilts.  Lots of quilts to bind; smaller quilts for home machine quilting available, packets and Xmas fabric for sale.  Free magazines, patterns for sale.  Come visit us at our table!  Thanks for the help digging out of our back-log.  We’ve made a dent.
Library:  new books by/on: Fassett, Civil war quilts, big print patchwork, design challenges
Round Robin:  Cindy is gearing up for 2017.  Described the committee/activities.  Sign-up sheet is available and have until Dec 31 to sign up.  November meeting the current year will show off their projects.
Secret Sisters:  Debbie G. is gearing up for 2017.  Described the committee/activities.  Forms are available to sign up for 2017 available at the back table.  Just had the Halloween party at Wendi’s house.  Lots of tricks and tips were shared.  Dinner at the Woodsman prior to the meeting in November.
BOM:   Nov/Dec (bonus block) due at November meeting.  Joan H. won October blocks.  2017 blocks are on website. 
Hospitality:  Fat quarters won by Cindy M.  Gift certificate by Harriet.
Show and Tell. 
Program:  Not Quite a Zebra (a black and white project) Cindy G.  discussed the rules of the Challenge.  Judy J. introduced the judges (Karen Roberts, Linda Jewett); Story judges (Nancy Bryant, Liz Hoffman, Carmen Steggell).  Judy  discussed her committee and the prizes and presented the challenge for 2017.  Packet contains 2 fat quarters.  Theme is based on a poem by a committee member on animals.  You can exchange the fat quarters.  Packets cost $5.
