  • Looking for an overall coordinator for the Raffle Quilt committee (making sure each venue coordinator has the materials and info they need) or a volunteer to coordinate a venue.
  • Nancy B. has snap bags for sale during the break for $10 each.  Proceeds benefit the Permission to Play supply budget.
  • Carmen S. is teaching a class on pattern making for clothing.  Cost is $10 as the class is still in development; she will be seeking your advice and critique on the class.  Class will take place early 2017.
  • Next board meeting is Jan 4.  Barbara is asking for recommendations of sites to hold the meetings in Corvallis.
Committee Reports:
Program :  January Program will be a demonstration/discussion of using rulers to quilt with on a domestic machine.
Round Robin:  Cindy is gearing up for 2017.  Described the committee/activities.  Sign-up sheet is available and have until Dec 31 to sign up.
Secret Sisters:  Debbie G. and Wendi B are gearing up for 2017.  Described the committee/activities.  Forms are available to sign up for 2017 available at the back table.  They meet once a month Jan – June and Sept-Dec.  They are looking for new members to join them to get to know Guild members in small groups, enjoy dinner out, attend Halloween and Xmas parties, attend the annual Beach retreat.  Secret Sister assignments will be mailed out Jan 2, so sign up is closed Dec 31.
BOM:  Shelly held the drawing for November (Cindy Graff) and Dec (Debbie Garvin).  In addition, she drew for the gift certificates (for every 12 blocks submitted during the year, a $10 gift certificate was purchased; this year 88 blocks were submitted and $80 in certificates were awarded) which were won by Sharon F.  Sharon F. has coordinated the blocks for the 2017 season with the theme “looking up.”  All the blocks are available on the guild website.
Hospitality:  Fat quarters won by Cheryl J.; Gift Certificate won by Cathy G.
Raffle Quilt 2017:  Judy J. announced the quilt has been quilted and is in the process of being bound.  She is looking for a member to embroider the label.  Please contact Judy.
Challenge:  Judy reports there are still packets available.
Election:  There was one nominee for President (Barbara G.) and one nominee for Treasurer (Ann G).  By a show of hands both were unanimously elected.
Show and Tell.
Program:  The Service committee chair, Lynn G., introduced three representatives from organizations that receive our service quilts and had a slide show of 111 quilts that had been finished this year.  The committee is grateful for the commitment made this year by members of the guild to finish/machine quilt the quilts.  This allowed us to double our production (In 2012 we gave away 48 quilts; 2014 – 62 and this year 93!).  A sign up sheet was passed to commit to finish quilts in 2017.

Room at the Inn:  Sara P described this Women’s Cold Weather Shelter.  They provide a secure and safe environment for Women for 5 months a year.  The residents and the staff feel the quilts make the shelter more of a home, create a calm atmosphere and represent safety and love.  If you would like to be trained to volunteer at the shelter, contact Sara at outreach@corvallisfumc.org.
Habitat for Humanity:  Karen R. talked about the mission of this organization.  They have worked to provide access to affordable housing in Benton County for 25 years and are about to open their 37th house.  The most recent house is LEED certified and will have an estimated utility bill of $400/year.  Mortgages for these homes range from $600-800/month, including taxes.  Habitat for Humanity also has a home repair program and runs the ReStore businesses.  Quilts are given to each child at the home dedication and become a cherished possession.
ABC House:  Mary W. discussed the mission of ABC House.  This organization services children birth – 18 years of age.  Each child receives a quilt.  They service 750 children a year, with 350 receiving services at the site.  These children are victims of physical/sexual assault or domestic abuse and are referred by law enforcement.  Training is available if you want to become involved.  Contact abchouse.org.

50 Shades of Gray and 50 Shades of Brown:  Beth R. gave an overview of a dyeing workshop that she took last year.  Beth was a recipient of a $200 scholarship from the JoAnn Cutler Hays scholarship fund.

Round Robin quilt show:  Cindy G.  discussed the process of the round robin committee and it’s friendship building opportunity.    This committee meets 5X a year (Jan, Feb, April, June and August) to swap projects and have social time with Guild members in a small group setting.  Several members of the committee showed their project and discussed why they value this committee.

Silent Auction:  Items of fabric, books and patterns were available to bid on.

Next general meeting is January 26, 2017.
Next Board meeting will be January 4 TBA

Minutes respectfully submitted by,
Lisa U.
