Peggy also advised that one garden will have small quilts for sale with all of the quilt sale proceeds going to Parkinson Fund Research. Members are encouraged to donate small quilts for the Parkinson fundraiser and forms will be available for a tax deduction.

Those with Show and Tell items were invited to share their work. As part of Show and Tell the Service Committee showed a number of completed quilts, invited members to adopt quilts in need of completion (binding and quilting). Because three nonprofits have requested a number of quilts, they are in need of additional larger quilts. Thanks were passed to three guild members who did donate quilts for these special requests.

After a short break Naomi W. provided information on the International Block Exchange with Australia. In addition to a theme there were two fabrics provided for each of the participants (8 in Australia and 8 from MRQG) for the block exchange. The Bunbury group was coordinated through Patchwork and Quilting with the work of women from the Bunbury area available for viewing at stirlingstreetarts.com.au. --- Bunbury Patchwork Quilting Group --- Guild members shared the quilts that they created with the blocks from the exchange and explain which blocks they created for the exchange.

Beth provided information on the Bay Area Quilt Guild of Urayasu, Tokyo, Japan and was able to provide a slide show of the quilts and their makers for this group. Our guild members shared their quilts and which blocks they designed for the exchange. The meeting was adjourned.

 General Meeting March 27, 2014

The meeting was called to order with a welcome to all present and visitors were asked to introduce themselves.

Program chair Corey introduced our speaker for the evening, Jamie Davis who shared information on Baltimore Album Quilts and Their Makers. Attendees had the opportunity to learn about quilting, fabrics and why Baltimore quilts are Baltimore quilts. A time to view Jamie’s work and patterns was provided before moving onto the business portion of the meeting.

Marketing passed signup sheets for upcoming events that will host the raffle quilt and members are needed to aid with sales of tickets.

Program reviewed the upcoming programs with April providing guild members to see quilts produced from the guilds two international exchange programs. In May Wendy Mamattah will present "Out of Africa: The Story of Adrinka; in June, Jessy Yorgey of Quiltwork Patches will share her story of quilting and establishing a quilt shop.

Raffle 2015 Quilt committee will have a workshop on April 5th from 9 am to 6 pm at Consumer Power. This will provide members with a lesson on paper piecing and allow them to help with next year’s raffle quilt. Those participating will need to bring a sewing machine, neutral thread, an Add A Quarter ruler and lunch.

QITG is still in need of two (or four if shared) hostesses to cover two more gardens. At future meetings there will be information for participation at the gardens. After the show thank you gifts will be made for our garden hosts and members will be invited to help with these special projects.
Library chief Jean provided information on some new books and introduced our new librarian Karen.

BOM provided examples of the April block and had the drawing for this month’s blocks. Congratulations Sharon F. on doing and winning the blocks.

Hospitality held it’s drawing for fat quarters and a gift certificate - congratulations to Sharon F. and Diana J. for having your name tags.

There was an announcement that there will be a Sew Expo program July 10-12, 2014 in Redmond, Oregon which is the same weekend for the Sisters quilt show of July 12th.

Service Committee began Show and Tell by sharing several completed quilts which included a quilt made by Debbie G. which will be used as a special fund raiser item. The service committee has received requests from three organizations (Pastega House, Oak Creek Youth Facility and Women’s Cold Weather Shelter) each wishing ten to twelve twin bed size quilts and the committee will need assistance with the production of the quilts.

After Show and Tell the meeting was adjourned.

Our next guild meeting will be April 24th
