March 24, 2016
Meeting called to order at 7:00 by Sherri. Sherri is moving to Washington and this will
be her last meeting as President.
Barbara Gordon will be taking over for her for the remainder of the
year.
Welcome guests: Deb from Alsea (friend of Colleen); Ann from
Washington (friend of Cindy G.)
Announcements: none
Committee Reports:
Challenge: Judy reports there are still challenge
packets available (5 packets/$10 each).
See Judy.
Sisters: Marcia passed a clipboard asking for quilt
sign-ups for display in the Pharmacy.
Books/Up, up and Away: quilts for display at Library and Museum
(need by first of June).
Setup/Take down: signup at back table for future meetings.
Quilt county: no
report
2016 Raffle Quilt: Jo announced tickets are available in packets
for members to sell to friends and family.
Clipboard passed around for Safari volunteers: April 22-30.
Watch for Sign-up genius.
Fabulous prize will be awarded to one lucky person who has helped to
fill volunteer slots or sold individual packets.
2017 Raffle quilt: no report
Secret Sisters: Wendi reports that March was a spring fling
gift steal. Nice gifts stolen via white
elephant rules. April will be a
progressive dinner: Debbie – appetizers;
Wendi – salads; Theresa – dessert.
Houses are in same neighborhood.
QnG: Cheryl J. asking for volunteers and quilts to
be displayed for the July 23 event. Six
gardens that are very different from each other. Looking for small quilts/whimsical, quilts
that fit a broad theme. If you signed up
last month, you don’t need to sign up again.
Round robin: Cindy reminds that next meeting is April 25,
7 pm at Cindy’s house. Photos will be on
the blog.
Library: no report
BOM: Sharon F discussed next month’s block (butterfly). Only 6 blocks this month. Remember for every 10 blocks there is a $10
gift certificate added to the stash for an end of the year drawing from
participants. Sharon F. won the drawing of the blocks for this month.
Hospitality: Fat quarters won by Karen G.; Gift
Certificate won by Cheryl J.
Workshop: Still openings in the Colleen Blackwood
workshop at 9:30 Friday, March 25 at JLC.
Future workshops are sparsely filled making it cost prohibitive. Please consider signing up for these
enriching experiences. (August 26: Ann Shaw on fractured landscape; Sept
23: Nancy Chong teaching at JLC day
after guild). Need more interest to have
these workshops fly.
Service committee: Lynn G. and committee members showed off some
of the finished quilts that you have pledged to finish this year. A few of these quilts will go for young
adult’s having chemo and to the men’s cold weather shelter. There are packets and items for sale as well
as free items. Thank you for helping the
committee finish quilts by binding and quilting. We appreciate your help.
Show and Tell: Three members showed their quilts.
Break
Program: Colleen Blackwood, from Pendleton, Oregon is
tonight’s speaker. She is a quilt
designer and teaches machine quilting. She
is teaching a workshop tomorrow at JLC.
There are still openings. It
begins at 9:30 a.m. Colleen has patterns
for sale. She will take cash or check. She has contributed to this guild for many
years by buying raffle quilt tickets!
She has taught at Sisters for a number of years.
Next meeting is April 28.
Next board meeting will be May 4, 6:30 pm, location TBA.
