General Meeting
3/28/2019
Vice President Theresa Valentine opened the meeting at 7:00
p.m.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Cindy M., Arts Department Superintendent for the Benton
County Fair, answered questions concerning exhibiting. She realizes that there
were problems in the past. Quilts accepted must be made in the prior year.
There will be a new section:My First Year. All types of fiber arts will be
accepted. There will be 24 hour security. Cindy will be on the grounds from 6
a.m. to 11 p.m. and she will sleep in a nearby camper. Two people will be in
the building when it is unlocked.

THIRTY YEAR ANNIVERSARY
Invited guests are: Linda Thompson, Linda Hanson, Gwen, plus
a total of seven founding members.
REPORTS
JoAnn said the Scholarship reimbursement information is
online.
Magazines are for sale in the back of the room. They are 25
cents each or five for $1.00.
SECRETARY
No report.
TREASURER
Marsha G. There are 79 members to date.
The Quilt County Fair is the 30th anniversary and
is using diamond shapes for the quilt design shapes.
PROGRAM
Ann G. said that for the past two years Cindy G. Was the
Viewer’s Choice. She asked for volunteer presentations for the next two years.
The May 23 program will feature appliqué artist Sherri
Rogers Appleton.
WEBSITE
The Guild is looking for raffle quilt photos from 1997,
1999, 2004, 2005 and 2007.
RAFFLE QUILT
The table topper will go to the person selling the most
raffle tickets.

A coordinator is needed for Fitness Over Fifty.
SECRET SISTERS
Jan A. said the group played bunco at the last meeting.
QUILTS IN THE GARDEN
A coordinator is still needed.
Sandy M. encouraged a volunteer as this is the Guild’s major
fund raiser.
CHALLENGE
Judy J. said the panels are gone, but encourages
participation.
QUILT COUNTRY
Judy J. had an article about it in our newsletter. The
venues are down so far this year.
ROUND ROBIN
Cindy G. Said the first exchange will be in April. She has
informational handouts available. She’ll be speaking to the Guild next month.
The topic is: The Teacher Is Still Learning.
LIBRARY
No report.
HOSPITALITY
Drawing fat quarter winners are: Judy J., Linda M. and
Cynthia J.
SERVICE
Seven completed
quilts tonight were shown.
Flo C. donated five quilts. Other exhibitors were Shelly B.,
Jan F., and Theresa V. showed a ruffed stool.
Theresa called for a break at 7:40 p.m. The meeting resumed
at 7:49.
PROGRAM
The program was members showing their first quilt and most
favorite. Alice H. showed her quilt started
15 years ago. There were quilts made in the 1950s and 60s. A quilt started 46
years ago and finished in 2018, a Carpenter’s Wheel in dark blue and white. Flo
C. showed a 1976 hand embroidered state birds and flowers quilt which was a
Benton County Fair ribbon winner and showed in the Paduca quilt show.
Thirty-one member quilts were shown. The audience really enjoyed
all the quilts.
The meeting ended at 9:05 p.m.
