General Meeting June 28, 2018


Barbara G. Called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m.

To clapping, she announced that the OSU Beavers baseball team were national champions.

Nancy A. announced there is a signup going around the room for Quilts in the Garden.

Marsha introduced Cynthia Bruns from Eugene for the night’s program. Cynthia said her blog is entitled Quilting’s More Fun Than Housework. Cynthia’s presentation covered how to work with colors and the amount of fabrics you have and using your stash.

Barbara announced a 10 minute break. The meeting resumed at 7:55.

Hospitality:
Donna won the gift certificate and Karen got the BOM.

BOM:
Lisa U. won the Utah blocks

President Announcements:
Barbara said that the next Board meeting will be online July 5. Mail any agenda items to her.
The newsletter deadline is July 7.
Barbara’s friend has a spinning wheel and loom for sale, contact Barbara.
The Blacksheep Gathering (knitting) is this weekend.
QIG is on the website with a map.

Secret Sisters:
Will restart in September.  The last meeting they played Bunko.

Round Robin:
Next meeting is July 9.

Challenge Quilts:
Packets are still available.

Library:
There are four new books, including one on Welsh quilts.

Barbara G.:
She had the raffle quilt at the Philomath outdoor concert, but only sold $10 of tickets. Hopes to sell more at the next two concerts.
2019 raffle quilt is well under way.

Service:
Ellie is filling in tonight. The Veterans quilts are almost gone. Four quilts were presented to the Habitat for Humanity family.

Quilts in the Garden:
Nancy A. said they are short volunteers and quilts. There are enough quilts for two gardens, but three gardens are empty. Any size is acceptable. Drop off July 13 between 3 and 6 p.m. July 23 is pickup day.
There was a cover ad in the June/July Willamette Weekly. The Country Register ran an ad and gave us
 32 pounds of the Register. Please take one or more from the box as you leave.

General Announcements:
Marsha urged signups for the fair from August 1 to 4.

The next meeting is July 26 at 6:30 p.m. at the park. The main dish is provided. Bring a side dish.

Show and Tell:
Teresa V, A wedding quilt
Linda B., Placemats for her dad with Alzheimer’s.
Jean Mc., A nine patch in teals and black.
Jo C., A baby quilt in Black, teal and tan.
Stephanie S., A blue door with transom that was pieced by her mother and quilted by her stepsister.
A black and white with two dogs.
Debi, A basket in the center wall hanging.
A challenge quilt from Dallas.
Orange colors in a sunshine Mariner’s Compass in the center.

The meeting was dismissed by B.G. at 8:38 p.m.
